“Purple Haze”- #17

Released- 1967

This song was inspired by a dream that Jimi had. He claimed that he was walking under the sea and during his dream he got into some trouble and a purple haze surrounded him and his faith in Jesus saved him during his dream. Jimi is in a state of confusion throughout the entire song; “actin' funny but I don't know why, 'scuse me while I kiss the sky.” He questions himself the entire song, “Purple Haze all in my eyes, don't know if it's day or night… you've got me blowing, blowing my mind, is it tomorrow or just the end of time?” When first writing this song, Hendrix wrote, “Purple Haze, Jesus Saves” but decided against.

The song ultimately presents the idea of being confused and in search for an answer
